OPC/ Oligomeric proanthocyanidin
complexes / and OPC's usefulness in hemorrhoids
treatment
OPC are a a group of polyphenolic substances that
include flavonoids and flavanols. OPC can be found in many
plants : in g r a p e seeds, pine bark, red wine, ginkgo
biloba, and in green tea.
Professor Jacques Masquelier of
the University of Bordeaux in France patented a method of
extracting OPCs from pine bark in 1951 and from grape seeds in
1970.
OPCs help to
prevent and relieve conditions of varicosities and hemorrhoidal
abscesses, which are characterized with abnormally high
capillary permeability and capillary fragility.
Several
clinical trials have confirmed the beneficial effects of OPC
use in treating vascular disorders and hemorrhoids.
A double-blind study of 50
patients with chronic venous insufficiency manifesting as
varicose veins revealed 150 mg proanthocyanidins daily for one
month had a more rapid and lasting effect on symptom
alleviation than 450 mg daily of diosmin.
OPCs are safe and possess high
biological activity without toxicity. There are no known side
effect of OPCs use despite decades of their use and
research.
Daily
dosage depends on individual needs and it is within a range of
50-500mg daily.
Rutin and Rutin's usage in hemorrhoids
treatment
Rutin is a
flavonoid comprised of the flavonol quercetin and the
disaccharide rutinose.
Rutin is found
in many plants, especially the buckwheat plant Fagopyrum , the
flour of which is used to make pancakes.
Other rich
dietary sources of rutin include black tea and apple peels.
Rutin exhibits antivaricose action by enhancing capillary
stability and normalizing their permeability by strengthening
blood vessels and making them less porous.
Rutin has
shown a certain anti-inflammatory effect.
Rutin is
widely used in Europe as a dietary supplement or medication for
prevaricose and varicose states, states after operational
extraction of varicose veins, present varicose veins;
complications in varicose syndrome; haemorrhoids and their
complications.
Recommended daily dosage for varicose and
hemorhoidal diseases is 300mg 2 times daily in the morning and
in the evening; for maintenance therapy 300mg daily for a
period of 3-4 weeks or longer.
HER and
their usage in hemorrhoids
treatment
HER
(hydroxyethylrutosides) is a standardized mixture of
rutinosides found in citrus fruits. HER is semi-synthetic
derivative of the flavonoid rutin. HER is considered to exhibit
more potent action in comparison with rutin and other citrus
bioflavonoids, but this consideration is not experimentally
proven.
Tip: Use Vitamin C
with bioflavonoids to make bioflavonoid’s curative powers
even more effective.
Take any where
from 1000 mg to 4000 mg of vitamin C.
If you have
problems with your kidneys the intake of higher dossage
of Vitamin C (for example above 1000mg daily) is not
recommended for prolonged period. In this case please
consult with your GP about appropriate
dosage.
